Sex Addiction Sobriety by Reaching Out to My Higher Power

I can attend up to five meetings a day, make 30 phone calls, and read all day long in the Sexaholics Anonymous “White Book” and Alcoholics Anonymous “Big Book”--but if I don't call out to my Higher Power in admission of my powerlessness over lust when the temptation hits me, I won't stay sober for long. My SA sponsor says that the meetings, phone calls, and readings are the “external” job. He says that surrendering each temptation to lust at least half a step before lusting inside (by reaching out to my Higher Power and immediately lowering my eyes or getting away) is the “inside” job. The outside job without the inside job cannot keep me sober.
