A drug called Campral is now being used for alcohol compulsivity. Its purpose is to re-equilibrate more rapidly the relation between glutamate and GABA, which gets upset by alcohol and drugs. We don't know if this plays a part in non-chemical compulsivities but, in chemical compulsivities, it is a major player.
