Step Eleven says, “We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out." This can be found in the Sexaholics Anonymous “White Book” (pages 135-141), as well as in the Alcoholics Anonymous publication entitled the “Twelve and Twelve.”
Step Eleven reminds me that my Higher Power is always here for me. Any disconnection is on my side. I need to improve my conscious contact with my Higher Power. Tools for strengthening contact this contact include prayer and meditation. This works best when done daily. Like physical exercise, spiritual exercise works best when done regularly. Sharing with others about prayer and meditation and my Higher Power helps as does reading spiritual and recovery literature. But like anything else, I need to take time and make some effort.
It works when you work it.
