293 Fixing Me

Batch 30 #293

"Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character." (SA 6)

There is something simple and beautiful about Twelve Step programs: the Twelve Steps are about being the best person I can be.

My religious tradition has a core belief of fixing the world. My tradition teaches we all have a responsibility to leave the world a better place and I embrace this idea. That fixing starts with me. While acting out, my decisions depended on what was in it for me; thus everything I did was suspect. Because I was always subtly distracted, I would often act at cross purposes and was never as effective as I could be. Even in recovery, I continue to question my own motives because of my past. This is where my sponsor and fellow program members help me with my decisions.

God, working through the Twelve Steps, help me to fix myself so I can leave the world a little better place.
