An Alternate Officer understudies a specific role, for a time, before taking over that position. The roles of Treasurer, GSR and GSC Chairman involve specific skills and know-how. Alternate Officers may be appointed for these posts.

Alternate officers attend GSC and IG meetings - as understudies. They also stand in whenever a current officer is absent. Good communication with the current officer is essential, so that the necessary skills and knowledge are passed on.
